Definitely one of the biggest and eagerly anticipated developments in Malta and Gozo, Fort Chambray has set a bench mark that will be hard to surpass. This luxury development is in the unique setting of a 17th century Fortification built by the Knights of the Order of St. John. The fort itself is built on a hill overlooking Mgarr Harbour to the east and the island of Comino and Malta to the south. Important architectural and historical gems are dotted around Fort Chambray including the Knights’ Barracks. Phase 1 is now complete while Phases 2 and 3 which will be launched in the near future should be finished by end 2010.
Location, Location, Luxury
Being in such a historically sensitive site the developers carefully used a system of low rise blocks with no block exceeding a maximum of three floors. Each block is connected by narrow winding alleys some covered with vaulted ceilings. At night these alleys are well lit with modern up lighters subtly mixing old architecture with a contemporary one. This city within a fortress is free of traffic although underground garages are provided.
Fort Chambray contains a mixture of villas each containing either two or three floors. Some of the villas have a huge amount of outside space and boast large pools that overlook wonderful scenery. Two bedroom apartments are also available with some enjoying small back gardens and terraces. The whole development will have a total of two communal pools with one already finished and operational.
Although the exterior of the development has an old rustic charm to it, the units’ interior is quite modern and has a nice compliment of high quality double glazed wood apertures, stainless steel and wood staircases and polished ceramic tiling. Bathrooms and internal doors are not included.
Although not all villas come with views all of them have access to their own airspace from which views of Mgarr Harbour, the village of Ghajnsielem or the Gozo channel, depending on the location in the fort, can be enjoyed.
